EN 1090

EN 1090

A new European standard for steel constructions, EN 1090-1, has been in force in our country since July 1, 2014. From that date on, all metallic construction products manufactured and traded in the European Union must bear the CE mark and therefore comply with the requirements of this standard. These requirements relate to manufacturers of metal products and how they are produced.

The standard consists of the following three parts:

EN 1090-1 Compliance requirements for building components (CE marking, certified Factory Production Quality System

EN ISO 1090-1 specifies and analyzes the requirements for conformity of performance characteristics of steel and aluminum structures and components carrying loads (static and dynamic). Elements of construction can be hot or cold rolled products, profiles, sheets, forgings and castings with surface protection from erosion or without.

EN 1090-2 Technical requirements for the construction of steel structures EN 1090-2 specifies the requirements for the execution of structural steel constructions produced by: Hot-formed steel construction products up to quality S690. Cold-formed structural elements and sheets, up to S700 quality for stainless steel and up to S690 quality for carbon steel.

Anchored austenitic, austenitic - ferrite and cold - formed ferrous alloy steel.

Anchored cold-formed hollow steel structural elements, either standard or non-dimensional, as well as hollow welded structural steel elements.

EN 1090-2 provides technical requirements for the execution of steel constructions involving both industrialization and building, as well as specifying requirements irrespective of the type and shape of the steel structures (buildings, bridges, ladders or trusses) including structures are subject to fatigue or earthquakes. Requirements are expressed in Execution Classes (EXC).

EN 1090-3 Technical requirements for the execution of aluminum constructions

EN 1090-3 specifies the requirements for the execution of structural works of aluminum structural elements produced by:

Rolled sheets, strips and slabs

Extrusion

Cold rolled bars, bars and tubes

Forged

Castings

EN 1090-3 provides technical requirements for the execution of constructions made of aluminum structural elements for both industrialization and erection building, as well as specifying the requirements regardless of the type and shape of the aluminum structures (buildings or trusses) including structures which are subject to fatigue or permanent load. Requirements are expressed in Execution Classes (EXC). It applies to structures designed in accordance with the relevant parts of Eurocode EN 1999.
